WHO WE ARE

Asise Kepu Foundation (AKF) is a community based organization located at Dambia, the Oti Regional capital.

The foundation was registered in July 2021 by some group of people who grew up in the community with a common interest to restore the environment, especially its green back to its prestine past.

Dambai had a very rich green environment with abundunt wildlfe until its destruction through the construction of the largest man made lake in the world , the Volta Lake to provide ghana's hydropower sation at Akosombo in 1965.

As a littoral community sitting on the Oti River, a major tributary of the Volta River the project resulted in the submerging of majority of the cover leading to the death of most its trees and wildlife living in them as well as exposing the community to great environmental change challenges.

Further human activities a consequence of the project and its creation led to population explosion and their activities such as clearings for settelements, animal grazing and foraging, bush fires and improper waste disposal would compound the situation. This is the existing situation confronting the people of this capital town thus requiring an action and therefore the coming up of this wonderful project by the foundation to salvage the situation.

The foundation has as its core objective the restoration of these fast depleting environment and effective handling of waste to find relief.

This seats well with the foundation's and lobal overall effort to reduce global warming and effects and create a serene environment for human habitation.

A market day scene at Damabai on the banks of the Oti River with no single tree cover now where there used to more in the past.

Sitting on the banks of the Oti River Dambai was full of vgitative over until the Akosombo Dam was constructed leading to the sbmerging of most of the vegiation now visilbe as stumps all around the town.
